Description
The main objective of the services performed by BuildGest was the characterization of the properties of the existing structural elements in a building whose original construction dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. In addition to documentary research on archivied elements, the actions consisted in the evaluation of the condition of the timber floors and resistant walls in stone masonry. Flat-jacks tests were carried out on masonry, tensile tests on metal elements, and measurements of moisture content and resistograph to wood elements. In conclusion of the obtained results were indicated, in the final report, the corrective measures that are most appropriate for the identified anomalies.

Description
In order to rehabilitate the building for construction of a hotel unit, a visual inspection and timber classification of the pavements of this structure was carried out. The main results obtained were the classification of the timber elements, the mapping of anomalies and the main anomalies that allowed to assess the type of intervention to be developed in the execution project. The visual inspection was supported by non destructive tests, where the tests with the resistógrafo and measurements of the moisture content stand out. Based on the fieldwork was developed an inventory of damages and pathologies by structural element evaluated was elaborated, complemented with intervention recommendations to be developed in the execution project.

Description
The building, from the 19th century, with a ruined area was subject to an in-depth study of its current state of conservation. By means of a detailed inspection, assisted by tests to characterize the properties of the materials, it was possible to "catalog" the materials that could be used in the construction of the new hotel unit. Much of the timber floors, “tabique” and stone masonry walls were reused.

Description

Description
The "Pombalino” building targeted for study was built between 1789 and 1900 on pre-existing structures. The main objective of the inspection was the structural characterization, ascertainment of the mechanical characteristics of its resistant elements, evaluation of the overall conservation status and identification of the main pathologies. The inspection performed assumed a fundamental role given that the correct identification of the characteristics of the existing structure and its conservation status allowed the realization of a project properly supported and adapted to the conditions of the building, directed to the solution of the real problems of the structure, optimizing solutions and the final cost of the interventions. Several tests were carried out on resistant elements of wood and stone masonry.

Description
The study of the Rua Luz Soriano building was initiated with a careful visual inspection where the visible anomalies were identified and characterized in order to proceed with their typification and their severity / degree of importance. The search for archivied elements that could provide information about the constructive solutions used in the building proved to be fruitless, so that in order to obtain information that would allow the understanding of the structural operation, a sampling survey campaign was carried out. The structural survey was represented on drawings, in order to highlight the disposition. After the preliminary visual inspection and the structural survey, tests were carried out, focusing mainly on timber structural elements:
- Resistography tests to evaluate the timber internal state of conservation;
- Moisture measurement using the hygrometer to assess the water content and as an indicator of biotic existence / propensity to attack;
- Percussion strikes using hammer, to obtain information about the timber state of conservation, through the analysis of the sound of response;
- Evaluation of the hardness and existence of surface degradations through the use of the chisel;
With the set of tests indicated above it was possible to identify the degraded timber elements and with reduced resistant capacity, as well as the extension of damages.01INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS

Description
Built in the late 60’s of the 20 century, there was no reliable information that could be used by the design team as part of the building rehabilitation project for the new use. As a tool for the design team, all the structural elements of the building, whose location and attributes were unknown, were duly characterized by drilling, geometric survey using laserscan and identification of constructive reinforcement using non-intrusive techniques. Measurements of the carbonation depth, chlorides profiles at 3 depths, and evaluation of the concrete hardness (sclerometer tests) were carried out.

Description
The main objective of the study was to carry out a preliminary structural and constructive characterization of the building to understand its structural configuration. The procedure used consisted primarily of visual examination through the expeditious survey of the location of the resistant elements. For this purpose, direct measurements with metric tape and laser distance were performed. The fact that the inspection was based only on visual inspection, together with the lack of structural elements in the municipal archives of Oliveira de Azeméis, which could give some indications, did not allow to obtain more profuse information about the structural operation of the building. Nevertheless, it is considered that the main objective of the study was reached, obtaining important information to support the development of the rehabilitation project of the building.

Description
In order to have guarantees on the acquisition of a property and to obtain indicators on its market price, the client requested an overall assessment of his condition. Buildgest promoted a structural survey using non-destructive and semi-destructive tests to verify the properties of existing structural elements. The study showed that the resistant structure presents some anomalies from the point of view of the constructive solutions adopted, as well as the quality of execution. In general, the tested elements are within the regulatory parameters in terms of strength, deformability and durability which translates into acceptable overall structural performance from the structural safety point of view.

Description
The study carried out, supported the elaboration of the Reinforcement of retaining wall Project at Ribeira da Granja and involved the following works:
- Geometric survey using Laserscan technology;
- Characterization of structural concrete;
- Geological-geotechnical study;
The geotechnical surveys and SPT tests were used to evaluate the foundation conditions of the wall and the non-destructive and destructive tests served to characterize its properties.
